Since March 1, 2007, driving bans have been issued in Germany for vehicles in environmental zones that cannot prove such an environmental sticker. Furthermore, there are two stickers on each registration plate of a vehicle. These two stickers are used to identify the respective vehicle when the next main inspection or exhaust emission test for the vehicle is due. The sticker indicating when the next main inspection is due is on the front vehicle registration plate. The sticker for the identification of the next exhaust emission test is attached on the back.
