Video surveillance is the observation of locations with the help of video cameras. This is almost always in connection with the recording and later analysis recordings. Film footage in court is used as evidence, especially in the case of distance offences in motorway traffic, as the official vehicles of the motorway police are equipped with video cameras. Otherwise there would be no evidence whatsoever of the violation. But video surveillance systems are also used for traffic monitoring in connection with the electronic signs on the motorway. If traffic jams, the speed information is reduced, for example from 120 km/h to 100 km/h and a traffic jam warning is displayed. This is intended to prevent traffic jams and keep traffic on the move. Against the background of international terrorism and the growing number of violent crimes, these measures are widely accepted by the population. Public places and especially subway stations, but also buses are monitored by cameras. Hidden behind the cameras is a sophisticated system that collects, stores and displays all data in a control center. This is where the received images are evaluated and intervened in an emergency.
