Repair work refers to the work when an object is damaged and is restored to its normal condition by means of a repair. By definition, however, repairs only apply to non-living objects. Thus, a human operation is not a repair, but a cure. A broken bone, on the other hand, is both repair and healing, because the bone itself is not a living object. Examples for repair work are, for example, the repair of a machine, the size does not matter. Both the repair of a large factory machine, in which for example a gear wheel is broken, and the repair of a small electronic part, such as a graphics card on a computer, in which microscopically small parts are burnt through, are considered repair work. Repair work is usually done by humans, but there is rarely the example that robots and machines do repair work. The best examples of this are nuclear power plants. If the radiation intensity of a nuclear power plant is too high and there are simple repairs (such as welding at a favourable location), robots are used instead of the people who would die from the radiation to carry out the repair work. Often it is so that repairs of defective devices are not worthwhile themselves, since the repair costs would turn out far higher, than the acquisition of a new equipment (example: An electric razor that cost 100 Euro and is no longer covered by warranty).
