Certification: required by law or voluntary

Certification is a procedure implemented with the aim of confirming that defined requirements have been complied with. The MPA NRW offers its clients the certification of products and quality management systems. Certification can be prescribed by law - as in the case of many building products - or be implemented voluntarily.
The requirements for products have usually been determined in technical specifications like standards or approvals. The requirements for quality management systems are defined by the standard DIN EN ISO 9001 as well as by other standards. The certificate attests that the tested requirements to a product have been complied with.
The clients of the MPA NRW can use the services of acknowledged and accredited certification centres for products as well as of an accredited certification centre for quality management systems.
