Borehole Inspection SystemWith

the PENTACON Borehole Inspection System (BLI) you inspect boreholes for different parameters like threads, characteristics or residues like chips or foreign bodies. Unlike previous industrial solutions, we rely on an inspection without immersion, as endoscope cameras are often more susceptible to interference and slower. The borehole inspection system was designed as a modular unit that can be seamlessly integrated into existing inspection systems or used as a stand-alone measuring device. The through holes or blind holes to be tested are automatically checked for defined parameters and evaluated by software.
How it

worksThe core of

each system is a telecentric lens and a camera developed for the inspection of boreholes. Depending on the characteristics of the workpiece to be inspected, the distance to the camera is adjusted accordingly. Depending on the application, the test specimen is illuminated either by incident light or transmitted light. Thread characteristics, production chips, breakouts, defects or foreign bodies can be recorded and evaluated using adapted testing software. Coupled with a sorting logic, the faulty test parts are then sorted out.
High End BLI
The High End BLI is characterised by a special entocentric optics with a wider focus range and a special lighting solution. In this case, image acquisition and diffuse illumination take place via the same optical path. With the diameter/depth ratio of 1:3, it is also possible to inspect several features with one shot. The subsequent evaluation takes place on a separate PC using image processing libraries such as the Matrox Imaging Library.
SMART BLI
The SMART BLI features a compact design that is ideal for automation on production lines. Basic elements of the smartBLI are the Datalogic smart sensor P17, a wide angle lens and a ring light for directed illumination of the hole or recess. Depending on the test task, a minimum distance between the optics and the test object may be necessary. The use of backlighting for very small drill holes also improves the inspection.
