T-Hotbox PDR is a tool for car dent removal and repair without painting
Induction heater T-Hotbox PDR was designed for instant repair of small and shallow dents on the car body made of ferrous (magnetic) metal, when the metal stress is directed outwards (not inwards).
T Hotbox PDR is also used as an auxiliary solution to a PDR-tool for pulling-out large and sharp dents with subsequent refining using a PDR tool.
?-Hotbox PDR device allows for shrinking and stabilizing of stretched metal (bucklings), which bounces due to being stretched out.
Operating principle
A metal sheet is heated from the inside on exposure to induction heating (microwave oven principle of operation).
If a metal sheet is exposed to heat for about one second, paint and other polymeric coatings with a destruction temperature of 200 °C take no critical heat damage.
When molecular structure of the metal is rapidly heated, its crystalline lattice is shrinking. And since the metal stress is directed to the top (outwards) a dent is being smoothed
Exposure time depends on a metal sheet's thickness and may vary from 1 to 4 seconds (max).
If a dent hasn't been smoothed out on the first try, it's necessary to wait until the surface completely cools down (to avoid paint destruction) and repeat the process.
Field of use
This device is capable of facilitating the repair process regarding only small and shallow dents in those car body sectors where the metal stress goes up (outwards – not inwards). This device won't bring the desired effect when using it relative to edges or some sections glued to a stiffener, as the metal stress in such areas is being retained by the metal's flexural bending stiffness or by the glue.
