A copier, more precisely a photocopier, is a device that reproduces documents. It consists of at least one read-in component that scans the document electronically and one print component that copies the document. Most copiers are complex devices on which the number of copies, a magnification rate or similar can be entered. However, there are also simple home devices that are often sold in combined printer-copier-scan devices. These are called multifunctional devices. Today, copiers are everywhere: in every office, in every educational institution, in many private households, everywhere where documents are managed and filed. There are also copiers in some shops or public institutions that can be used for a fee. All documents that are used several times are copied: Handouts as well as documents, invoices or protocols.An example of the use of a copier can be found in a school: The teacher has prepared a slide and would like to distribute it to all students. She copies the film and can immediately come into the classroom with a stack of printed paper, as the copier does the duplication for her.
