Rudolf Kiesewetter, Namensgeber des Excelsior-Werkes Rudolf Kiesewetter in Leipzig, gründete im Jahre 1908 die erste Messgerätefabrik in Deutschland. 1942 wurde die Fabrik zerstört, aber unter großem und unermüdlichem Einsatz nach Kriegsende wieder aufgebaut.
Herr Kiesewetter verstarb 1958. Im selben Jahr wurde aus dem Unternehmen ein halbstaatlicher Betrieb. In der ehemaligen DDR entwickelte sich Kiesewetter zum Alleinhersteller für eine Reihe von Produkten der Messtechnik. Zu den Hauptprodukten zählten dabei die Schalttafeleinbaumessgeräte und Belichtungsmesser. Einen weiteren Schwerpunkt bildeten die Geräte zur Überwachung, Umwandlung und dem Erfassen von elektrischen und physikalischen Größen.
Mit der Wiedervereinigung Deutschlands wurde die Rudolf Kiesewetter Messtechnik GmbH wiedergeboren. Aus harter Arbeit, Beharrlichkeit, eisernem Willen sowie stetigem Vorausblick kombiniert mit Visionen resultierten Produkte auf höchstem Niveau.
