Il Superfinish è un processo di produzione della lavorazione. Ma uno come nessun altro. A differenza della tornitura o della rettifica convenzionale, crea un completo contatto di superficie tra l'utensile e il pezzo, ed è proprio questo che porta alle proprietà uniche di una superficie perfetta. La sovrapposizione della rotazione del pezzo e dell'oscillazione dell'utensile, per esempio, fa sì che un singolo grano si muova lungo una linea sinusoidale, che è tipica di questo processo.Tutti i grani abrasivi in contatto creano piste di lavorazione sovrapponendo le singole linee sinusoidali, che si incrociano con un certo angolo. Ciò si traduce in scanalature definite e superfici di plateau. Ed è proprio da qui che derivano i vantaggi del processo Superfinish. Le scanalature agiscono come canali che distribuiscono uniformemente i lubrificanti. Gli utensili utilizzati sono abrasivi legati in modo fisso, per esempio in ceramica, o su un supporto flessibile, come un nastro tessile. Distribuzione uniforme del lubrificante, maggiore rapporto di contatto, microgeometria migliorata, altezza centrale ottimizzata - questa è la qualità del pezzo attraverso la superfinitura.
