Rudolf Kiesewetter, che diede il nome alla fabbrica Excelsior Rudolf Kiesewetter di Lipsia, fondò nel 1908 la prima fabbrica di strumenti di misura in Germania. Nel 1942 la fabbrica fu distrutta, ma fu ricostruita dopo la fine della guerra con grande e instancabile impegno.
