ライプツィヒのエクセルシオール工場Rudolf Kiesewetterにその名を与えたRudolf Kiesewetter氏は、1908年にドイツ初の計測器工場を設立した。1942年に工場は破壊されたが、終戦後、たゆまぬ努力で再建された。
キーゼヴェッター氏は1958年に死去。同年、同社は半国営
企業となった。
旧ドイツ民主共和国において、Kiesewetter は様々な計測技術製品の唯一のメーカーとなった。主な製品はパネルメーターと照度計。
ドイツの再統一により、Rudolf Kiesewetter Messtechnik GmbH は生まれ変わった
。
