Description
  • Ceramic materials exhibit very high mechanical strength which is required for the application as components for machines and equipments.
  • The hardness of advanced ceramic materials is above 9 on Moh´s Scale, and only diamond is harder (which rates 10 on Moh´s Scale). For this reason ceramic materials are excellent suitable for the production of parts with very high wear resistance e.g. for the paper-, textile- and wire industry.
  • The low density of the ceramic material is advantageous in the design of rotating movable parts such as bearings, valves, and rotors.
  • Ceramic materials are extremely heat resistant. The properties of metals can be significantly above 500 ° C after. Construction ceramics, however, can also be used above 1000 ° C. Ceramic components, for example in the metal industry in direct contact with molten metal (eg Abziehringen) is used.
  • In contrast to metals ceramic materials react only insignificant with acids and bases. Therefore they are ideal for the application in chemical industry.

Description

Engineer ceramics are components of ceramic to provide solutions for engineering conditions with special requirements.Ceramics offer many advantages compared to other materials. They are more heat and corrosion resistant than metals or polymers; less dense than most metals and their alloys; and their raw materials are both plentiful and inexpensive. These good properties facilitate their use in many different product areas. The common engineer ceramics include alumina ceramic, steatite ceramic, zirconia ceramic, cordierite ceramic and titanium ceramicetc. If you are looking for a material that has a longer working life and can stand up to wear, corrosion and high temperature, the engineering ceramic is the answer.
