Handles, hinges, handwheels, clamp handles, knobs or clamping devices - all these are components which are needed virtually everywhere, in mechanical engineering as much as in laboratories, in plant equipment and in the transport sector. Components, many of which come from the Black Forest, directly off the high-rise shelves of the market leader: Otto Ganter GmbH & Co. KG.
Established in Furtwangen in 1894 as a small mechanical workshop, company founder Otto Ganter hit on the idea in 1912 to standardize operating elements - years before the German Industry Norm (DIN) came into being. An idea thriving and growing into a sustained model of success: today, the family-owned company in its fourth generation is present worldwide and keeps on growing. Over 400 people at the company‘s Black Forest headquarters permanently develop new elements, manufacture with ultimate precision and quality and ensure the fastest possible shipping. 85 percent of all orders leave our plant within 24 hours - a speed which sets standards. And with over 60,000 available variants, Ganter offers an unrivalled range and variety of standard parts.
What became known as the Ganter Standard after its launch 100 years ago eventually turned into an indispensable feature in many engineering and construction offices - and with it the Ganter catalogue, showing the entire range of products with all their characteristics on around 1,900 pages in the most recent 17th edition. The Ganter catalogue has long been a much sought-after manual which has successfully helped and accompanied generations of designers and developers. And - this being the digital age - all the data are also available online and can be loaded into all common CAD programs.
If, by any chance, there is a standard part that you need and cannot find in the extensive range of products, the people at Ganter will set to work to close the gap and develop a customized solution. This is also one part of the story which has made Ganter into what it is today: a successful player on the international stage.

Power is transmitted, power must be carried over into drive
This is valid for many industrial fields of application, such as lifting, dropping, conveying, carrying, winding, milling and coupling. Typical requirements for our products in the steel producing and processing industry, the cement industry or ship building and plant construction. Our feasible dimensions: Pieces up to 8000 mm length, up to 2000 mm width and diameters of 50 mm to 1750 mm demonstrates our performance.
As to machining such as hobbing and tooth flank grinding no limits are set for components up to 30 tons. Thanks to specialized staff and experienced engineers we do not even stop at extraordinary specifications.
Material:
Casing drop-forged steel, tempered.
Version:
Galvanized.
Internal clearance 15 - 40 µm.
Rod ends are primarily used where movement processes are transmitted and there is no exact alignment.
Version with internal thread:
The hardened ball bearing is long-term greased and sealed with cover washers. The connection dimensions comply with DIN 648 Form Series KA.
Version with external thread:
The hardened ball bearing is long-term greased and sealed with cover washers. The connection dimensions comply with DIN 648 Form Series KA.
Material: drop-forged steel, tempered

Ball: Bearing steel 100 Cr6
Outer ring: Special bronze
cold-pressed
Housing: Free-cutting steel, self-lubricating, maintenance-free, operating temperature: -30C° to +150C
Bearing clearance:
Bearing clearance or bearing clearance is the dimension by which the inner ring can be displaced in radial or axial direction within the bearing shells. Measurements are made with the ball blocked by applying a load of +100 N and then -100 N to the housing and measuring the displacement of the housing. The measurement is carried out at room temperature in the unmounted state.
Radial play:
Bearing clearance under radial load in µm as a function of the ball bore "d" for rod ends and spherical bearings
ball bore "d" Radial clearance 5...14 mm 15...50 µm 16...20 mm 20...60 µm 30...35 mm 30...80 µm
In spherical plain bearings, the radial clearance is influenced by the selection of the fit tolerances of the bore and shaft. Since unfavourable tolerances result in an increase in bearing friction and thus a reduced service life, we recommend the following fit tolerances:
load type bore shaft normal load M7 m6 heavy load N7 m6
axial play:
The bearing clearance under axial load is approximately 3 times the radial clearance.
