1、 Material and mold parameters
Material selection:
The heat transfer coefficient of pure aluminum AL1070/1050/1010 reaches 22670W/m · K, alloy aluminum 6063 is 180W/m · K, and die cast aluminum A380 is only 96W/m · K.
The cold heading process can achieve ultra-thin fins of 0.7mm, with a spacing of 1mm and a length to diameter ratio of 1:50 or more (extrusion process usually 1:25).
Mold requirements:
Use H13 steel or tungsten steel molds (hardness HRC45-50), and polish the working belt to Ra ≤ 0.8 μ m.
Equipment weighing over 3000 tons can form large-sized radiators of 2600mm × 260mm in one go.
2、 Cold heading process parameters
Molding parameters:
The forging force is 100-1000kN, the servo drive accuracy is ± 0.01mm, and the recommended temperature for warm forging is 580-780 ℃.
The three-dimensional intake design is superior to traditional two-dimensional extrusion, improving heat dissipation efficiency.
Welding process:.
Nitrogen protected brazing/vacuum brazing is suitable for thin-walled parts (such as AL3003/4045), while friction stir welding is suitable for thick walled parts.
3、 Performance and Testing
Heat dissipation performance:
Pure aluminum cold heading heat sink can reduce the volume of 5W LED lamps by 30% and increase the power to 7W.
Quality inspection:
Dimensional tolerance ± 0.1mm, surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.8 μ m, requires air tightness testing (leakage rate ≤ 0.1%)

Mold lifespan: Using tungsten steel cold extrusion molds (such as YG8) can improve wear resistance
