1、Material and mold parameters
Aluminum material selection:
The commonly used AA6063 aluminum alloy has a thermal conductivity of 160-180 W/m · K. It is necessary to ensure that the surface of the ingot is smooth and free of segregation nodules, and the flatness error of the end face is ≤ 3mm.
The recommended length of the ingot is 0.6-0.85 times the normal length, and short casting rods (0.4-0.6 times) are preferred during mold testing.
Mold requirements:
Using H13 steel or imported high-quality steel, vacuum heating quenching+high-pressure pure nitrogen quenching, hardness HRC48-52.
The mold design needs to control the fin thickness to length ratio to be ≤ 1:18, and the rationality of the working zone needs to be verified through simulation for complex cross-sections.
2、 Extrusion process parameters
Temperature control:
The heating temperature for aluminum ingots is 480-520 ℃, and the heating temperature for molds is 480 ℃ (with a diameter of less than 200mm and insulation for ≥ 2 hours).
The temperature difference between the mold and the ingot should be ≤ 50 ℃ to avoid mold blockage caused by a decrease in metal temperature.
Pressure and speed:
Initial pressure ≤ 8MPa, low-speed trial mold (discharge for 3-5 minutes), normal production pressure ≤ 120kg/cm ².
The extrusion speed should be stable to avoid sudden acceleration causing tooth breakage or uneven discharge.
3、 Post processing and detection
Timeliness processing:
The aging temperature is 190 ± 5 ℃, and the insulation time is 2.5-4 hours. After being taken out of the furnace, it is air-cooled
Quality inspection:
Dimensional tolerance: ± 0.1mm (national standard requirement).
Surface defects: The oxide slag should be ≤ 0.1mm, and the micropore rate should be ≤ 3%
4、 Process optimization direction
Reduce extrusion pressure: Reduce the risk of tooth breakage by shortening the ingot length and optimizing the mold flow design
Improving heat dissipation efficiency: using serrated or buckle Fin technology to break through the limitation of fin aspect ratio (up to 1:60)

Computer hardware: The CPU/GPU heat sink achieves a dense fin structure through extrusion technology, increasing the heat dissipation area by more than 30%.
