Regeneration saves energy costs
In the past, applications in which drives are braked were usually equipped with braking resistors. The energy released is converted unused into heat.
By using regenerative frequency converters, the energy is usually fed back into the company network, thus saving energy costs. Such units are used for movements with many speed changes or when masses must be braked electrically. Typical examples of this are: Creels for the textile industry, conveyor technology, elevator technology, storage systems and much more
Walcher produces tailor-made regenerative units for three-phase and direct current networks, which can also be galvanically decoupled from the supply network through the additional use of its own isolating transformers. In addition, desired features such as an additional power display, energy meter or ready-made cables with connector plugs can be implemented.
Regenerative units simplify project planning, as there is no need to connect and cool braking resistors. This also results in a space saving in the control cabinet, as the area for the braking resistor is freed up.
The unit also controls the reactive power and thus compensates the inductive reactive power of the consumers. This also contributes to cost savings.
In addition to the savings achieved through grid feedback and reactive current compensation, our environment is also protected, as the overall energy requirement is reduced.
