Anyone who buys food somewhere and takes a close look at the list of ingredients will discover some other substances in addition to the expected content, which are often declared under E-numbers. These additional substances are often chemical, sometimes natural substances that are added to our food to make it taste better. For example, the food additives change taste, sweetness and appearance, all the more simulating freshness. On the other hand, the food additive is also used to prolong the shelf life of food, e.g. for canned foods for an indefinite period. In addition, the food additive is needed to make liquids thicker and creamier, such as sauces, soups and pudding, but also the gelling agents. The best known are probably the sweeteners, which also belong to the group of food additives. They replace sugar in many dishes, which is particularly advantageous for diabetic courts, so that those affected do not have to do without everything. Diabetics, who are not allowed to drink sugar, can, for example, drink safely sweetened coffee with the food additive saccharin or eat biscuits and cakes. They are therefore not restricted in their quality of life.
