Description

Gravity Die Casting is a casting process where liquid metal is poured into a metal mold under the action of gravity and solidifies in the mold to obtain a casting . The process is characterized by high thermal conductivity and heat capacity of the metal mold, which results in rapid cooling, dense casting structure, and mechanical properties about 15% higher than those of sand castings . This method can achieve high dimensional accuracy and low surface roughness, and the quality stability is good . However, metal molds lack permeability, so measures must be taken to evacuate the air and gases generated by the sand core. In addition, the metal mold has no yielding property, which can easily cause cracks in the casting during solidification.
It is suitable for mass production of complex-shaped aluminum alloy, magnesium alloy and other non-ferrous alloy castings, as well as steel and iron castings and ingots. It is widely used in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and electronics due to its ability to produce parts with high precision and quality.
