Needle mats (insulation mats) are mechanically needled, non-woven fibre mats. These special high-temperature resistant insulating mats are made of alkali-free E-glass fibre (up to approx. 600 °C) or silicate glass fibre (SiO2 - up to approx. 1600 °C) without chemical binders. Due to the high proportion of air between the individual fibres, these materials have extremely good insulating properties for applications in the high temperature range. Optionally, the needle mats can be equipped with aluminium foil (1 or 2 sides) or self-adhesive.
