Neodymium arc magnets, or neodymium segment magnets, can be seen as a part of neodymium ring magnets or neodymium disc magnets. They are made of high-quality neodymium magnets containing the elements neodymium, iron, and boron. NdFeB magnets are permanent magnets and the most widely used type of rare earth magnets. Neodymium arc magnets are mostly used in voice coil motor, permanent magnet motors, generators, wind turbines, torque couplings, and other applications.

Arc magnets are used for PM-motors in various desings and performance. Motors with lower requirements of high coercitivity and Remance but cost sensitive are normally designed for use of Sintered Hard Ferrite material. For more demanding performance sintered rare eart magnets such as NdFeB or SmCo.

High graded NdFeB has higher Coercivity (Hcj) and Energy product (BHmax) and SmCo has outstanding maximum working tempearature, low temperarure coefficient and superiour corrosion resistance. Where shape if of more concern or price in comparison with the sintered Rare Earth materials compression bonded NdFeB is a usable option.

Neodymium Magnets Features & Characteristics
Grades & Materials - Neodymium magnet materials in both standard and premium grades for reduced production and lead times. We offer sintered neodymium magnets in grades ranging from N30 to N55.
Sizes & Shapes - Sizes for standard Neodymium Iron Boron rare-earth magnets range from a few millimeters to approximately 150 mm, while assemblies can weigh up to several tons. Standard shapes include discs, blocks, rings, and arc segments in various sizes and grades. Non-standard shapes and sizes can be custom fabricated exact specifications from raw stock.
Temperature Considerations - Neodymium magnets are temperature sensitive. For applications in which the magnet may be exposed to temperatures in excess of about 250°F (120°C), careful consideration must be given to the choice of magnet grade and the magnetic circuit.
Manufacturing Methods - Due to the relatively brittle nature and high-magnetic strength of NdFeB magnets, cutting and grinding should be done prior to magnetization. We are fully equipped to machine these materials to virtually any shape and size for your project’s specialty requirements using our in-house grinding and EDM facilities. Finishing to tolerances of +/-0.05mm can be achieved, as required.
Surface Treatments - Neo magnets are susceptible to oxidation, so painting, epoxy coating, or plating is highly recommended to prevent corrosion. The common surface treatments include nickel plating, zinc, or epoxy coatings.
Handling & Storage - Neodymium materials are relatively brittle, but are magnetically very strong. They must therefore be handled carefully to avoid injury to personnel and damage to the magnets.

Neodymium magnets have replaced alnico and ferrite magnets in many of the myriad applications in modern technology where strong permanent magnets are required, because their greater strength allows the use of smaller, lighter magnets for a given application. Some examples are:

• In process industries, powerful neodymium magnets are used to catch foreign bodies and protect product and processes
• Identifying precious metals in various objects (cutlery, coins, jewelry etc.)

Samarium Cobalt magnets is widely used in electron beam devices, high-end motors, sensors and magnetic assemblies. Due to its high magnetic properties (higher Br, higher Hcj and (BH)max), extremely low temperature coefficient, high working temperature (up to 350 ° C) and strong corrosion resistance. It can not be replaced by other permanent magnets.
Sintered NdFeB magnet is the most magnetic permanent magnet materials in the world today. With their excellent permanent magnet properties that surpass traditional materials, it is widely used in VCM, mobile phones, MRI, audio equipment, automotive motors and other fields, is an indispensable functional material for modern industry.
