Video cameras are usually recording devices in which electrical signals are converted from optical images and then stored, usually with sound, on a video tape or digital medium. Nowadays, video cameras have very different and numerous functions. The most important functions serve the surveillance of public buildings in the form of surveillance cameras, but also the media industry could not exist without video cameras, since television enjoys a very large influence as a medium.Video cameras are not completely undisputed in the public. The Data Protection Federation and many citizens see video surveillance as an invasion of privacy and fear the emergence of a surveillance state. Therefore, there are very strict rules for filming with a video camera in Germany. For example, it is not permitted to make films without the consent of the respective person. Exception are public places with many people, as long as a person is not highlighted by a zoom or similar means.In private life now almost everyone owns a video camera, since this now belongs to the standard equipment of every mobile phone and also most photo cameras offer an integrated video function. Privately, usually big events in life such as weddings, birthdays, Christmas etc. are recorded on video and can thus be kept permanently.
