bridges A dock leveller is a construction that is attached to the loading ramps of trucks and thus bridges the gap between the vehicle and the loading ramp. Dock levellers at loading locks are the most important prerequisite for a trouble-free working process in the daily routine of warehousing.
Depending on the movable front part of the dock leveller, different types of dock levellers are distinguished: bascule dock levellers are particularly suitable for unloading with a forklift truck due to their high load capacity, a pivoting dock leveller is characterised by its easy handling and the feeders are considered to be particularly robust. Dock levellers are fixed and mobile devices for levelling differences in height and for bridging distances between loading ramps or comparable loading areas and loading platforms of vehicles. Dock levellers can be manually operated or power operated.
Manually operated gantries are available in fixed or laterally movable versions. The crossing bridge consists of a solid steel or aluminium construction. The spring assembly mounted under the plateau ensures that the weight is balanced and that manual operation is possible with minimum effort. Due to the floating position, the leveller follows every vertical movement of the vehicle to be loaded or unloaded during the loading process. For the loading process the leveller is usually lowered onto the loading area with a control rod, the support is placed on the loading area of the truck.
Dock levellers with laterally displaceable design are mounted on the front edge of the ramp by means of a special guide profile. In rest or zero position, the leveller stands upright on the loading edge and is locked by a mechanical catch.
