By combining this modern cutting technology with a flexible numerically controlled gantry machine, any part contours can be economically produced from a wide range of materials. In water jet cutting, the energy required for cutting is transferred by the active medium of water jet. Filtered tap water is compressed by a pressure intensifier to a maximum pressure of approx. 4000 bar. When the water under high pressure exits through a specially shaped nozzle, the potential energy is converted into kinetic energy. The nozzle consists of a sapphire embedded in stainless steel with a nozzle bore of 0.15 - 0.3 mm.
