The HPK-67 hand bearing compass serves to determine the deflection error of magnetic compasses installed in aircraft. It is also a valuable aid when carrying out magnetic measurement work, such as determining a suitable compensation place for aircraft.
The high-precision compass system rests on a sapphire stone and centre pin with an iridium point. It is safely mounted in a fluid-filled, double-walled compass bowl made of non-magnetic, hand-soldered sheet brass.
The HPK-67 is equipped with a prism azimuth device. The measuring result is deflected and enlarged through a magnifying prism, allowing it to be easily read over an angle of approx. 15°. The device can thus be held in the position of the bearing direction when reading the compass card.
The compass is adjusted in the factory with the appropriate pre-inclination for the geographical place of use (magnetic inclination). You will receive the compass in a shockproof aluminium case, in which it is properly stored. You are urgently recommended to use a tripod made of a non-magnetisable material (item no. 027142) with articulated ball head (item no. 027124) in order to be able to carry out even better and more stable measurements.
