In addition to the classic, inductive Schaevitz displacement transducers and displacement sensors, our displacement transducers (displacement transducers) also include potentiometric displacement transducers, which are especially suitable for OEM applications, and modern, non-contact displacement transducers based on eddy current technology according to the current state of the art.
The inductive displacement transducers from Schaevitz are usually designed according to the differential transformer principle (LVDT Linear Variable Differential Transformer), require a carrier frequency (TF) supply and classically supply a non-amplified AC voltage signal for displacement measurement. A TF amplifier, e.g. type MC-KS, is required for the supply voltage and signal amplification.
Current series already have a corresponding TF amplifier integrated and provide a DC output signal. The available measuring ranges range from +/-0.125 mm to +/-250 mm.
A special form of displacement measurement are the inductive displacement transducers and position transmitters of the LIPS series. These have only a single secondary coil, the non-linear signal is amplified by an ASIC. As a result, the displacement transducers or displacement switches are also only available with voltage (0...5, 0...10, +/-10 V) or current (4...20 mA) signals.
The displacement transducers of the LIPS series are also available in special versions for use in hazardous areas. These intrinsically safe EX displacement transducers are available for the hazardous areas Ex II 1G, Ex II 1GD and Ex i/II M1/1GD. The potentiometric displacement transducers are available in numerous versions for displacement measurement. Our product range mainly includes inexpensive OEM displacement transducers for series production, robust industrial displacement transducers and also versions as displacement sensors.
The non-contact displacement transducers and displacement measuring systems are based on the eddy current principle. As a displacement measurement, the distance to a magnetizable or non-magnetizable metal surface is thus converted into a voltage-proportional measurement signal. Although the non-contact displacement transducers are available with sensors for measuring ranges from 0.5 to 60 mm, most applications are between 1 and 6 mm measuring range. Since the area "illuminated" by the eddy current sensor is between 1.5 and 2.5 times the measuring range, depending on the type of sensor, the target for a measuring range of 60 mm would therefore have to be at least 100 mm in size.
A special design of the non-contact displacement transducers can be used as a ThreadChecker to detect a thread in a threaded hole. This considerably reduces the failure during automated drilling, tapping and screwing.
