Description

Interferometric measuring systems for non-contact flatness measurement of finish-machined parts.
TOPOS interferometers operate according to the principle of grazing incidence of light. The flatness of also rougher parts can be measured, which show no more fringe pattern with optical flats or Fizeau-interferometers. Next to lapped or ground parts also polished parts can be measured.

Technical data

By default, TOPOS flatness measuring instruments are available with two different sizes of measuring field: with a diameter of 100mm or 50m. An adaptation towards special sizes is possible according to request.

  • The absolute accuracy is up to 0.1µm over the entire measurement area
  • The time of measurement takes less than 2 seconds
  • Due to the non-contact process, the measurement instruments can be applied in the 100% control
  • Due to the extension by a cross- or rotary table it is possile to measure parts with an outer diameter of 620mm
  • Areas of application

The parts may consist of diverse materials:

  • metal (steel, aluminium, bronze, copper, etc.)
  • ceramic (AL2O3, SiC, SiN, etc.)
  • plastic material (thermoplastic, thermoset etc.)
  • graphite
  • Examples of application areas:

  • components of fuel and diesel pumps
  • pumps for power steering
  • water pumps
  • cutting tools
  • control valves
  • sealing valves
  • mechanical seals
  • ceramic sealing discs
  • sealing components

    Description

    For measuring
surface flatness and evaluating form parameters, use non-contact measuring
technology such as coherence scanning interferometers using white light
interferometry, Measure areally on large field of view and void the risk of
overlooking defects. By capturing millions of measuring points within fractions
of a second, optical flatness measurement ensures that surfaces are inspected
reliably and over their entire surface, so that faulty parts can be detected and
sorted out at an early stage of production. This allows a reliable flatness
assessment even on soft or very delicate test specimens, as the surface to be
inspected is not deformed. Optical surface flatness measurements are ideal for
quality control or 100% inspection in production.

    Areas of application

Polytec is addressing the surface metrology market with innovative, high-precision 3-D profilometer technology that works on rough, smooth and stepped surfaces without contact. These products are based on scanning white-light interferometry, also called coherent or vertical scanning interferometry or coherence radar. With their large vertical range and nanometer resolution, they are ideal tools for determining flatness, height differences and parallelism of large surfaces and structures, including soft materials.
