pH measurement has a wide range of applications, and is now widely used in universities, environmental protection, medicine, food, health, geology, metallurgy, ocean and other fields. Common acid rain, surface water, industrial wastewater, drinking water, beverages, daily chemical products, textiles, etc., should be pH measured. Because the activity of hydrogen ions is often very small, it is inconvenient to use concentration expression, so pH value is used to express the acidity and alkalinity of aqueous solution. pH is defined as the negative logarithmic value of hydrogen ion activity. pH=-log [H +] The commonly used glass pH electrode is H + sensitive hydrogen ion selective electrode. The basis and core of pH measurement is electrode. It consists of an indicator electrode and a reference electrode. When the pH value (H + activity) of the solution changes, the potential between the pH glass electrode and the reference electrode changes. The pH value of the solution can be measured by measuring the potential change with a pH meter. Redox potential (ORP) is used to reflect the macroscopic redox property of all substances in aqueous solution. The higher the redox potential, the stronger the oxidizability, and the lower the redox potential, the stronger the reducibility. ORP meter is used to measure the ORP of solution in mV. If the potential is positive, it means that the solution shows certain oxidizability, and if it is negative, it means that the solution shows certain reducibility.
