Magnetic level gauges are mounted to the boiler where the measurement of the liquid level is desired, with different connection methods. As the liquid in the boiler rises and falls, the float in the by-pass tube also rises and falls due to the principle of combined vessels. With this movement of the float, the double-colored magnetic discs arranged in the aluminum profile outside the by-pass tube rotate around itself. The magnet inside the float is aligned with the liquid level according to the immersion depth of the float. Thus, the double-colored magnetic profile discs, on which the float changes colors, can show its level exactly
and perfectly. The magnetic profile discs turn red as the float rises, and white as the float descends. Thus, the level of the liquid in the boilers is observed most accurately.

For mechanically measurements of liquids and bulk goods a weight is lowered from above with liquids developing a float on a measuring line from above up to the surface of the product. Through the sinking of the surface area the train decreases and the filling capacity is determined for the length of the unwound measuring line. A similar method is observed for liquids based on the which depth develops between two electrodes flowing through electricity due to the electrical conductivity of the product.
With the contactless method of the time is measured which is required for a signal in order to be reflected back from the surface area of the product to the receiving instrument. Signals such as ultrasounds, micro and radar waves are emitted.
The amount of fluid can also be measured based on the hydrostatic pressure. From the measured pressure of the fluid column the volume can be calculated through the sensor.
Level indicator devices are used for larger storage tanks up to large silos. So that over filling can be avoided as well as the consumption or the remaining quantity being concluded.
Level indicators are often used for stocking up on heating oil. For consumption billing and in order to not fall below minimum quanitities the current filling level in a heating oil tank is shown on a display.
