Noise Dose Meter Type 4444, Logging Noise Dose Meter Type 4445 and Intrinsically Safe Logging Noise Dose Meter Type 4445 E are small, lightweight and robust instruments for the assessment of personal noise exposure. The meters perform all of the essential functions for making dose measurements. In addition, Types 4445 and 4445 E include statistical analysis of measurement data and the ability to log user-selected values.
The instruments have been designed for daily use – a simple matter of switching on, calibrating and starting the measurement. Definition of setups and handling of data can be done from a PC connected to the instrument. The instruments can also be connected directly to printers or PCs for further data processing.

Prevention of hearing damage in the workplace The most important aspect of combating noise-induced hearing damage is the testing of noise exposure. Hearing loss can occur immediately at extreme noise levels. However, the main cause of hearing loss at work is exposure to average noise levels over a long period of time. Noise levels that are hazardous to health do not necessarily cause pain, so that usually no immediate reactions or complaints are noticeable. Many people are therefore unaware of the damage that can occur, which is why the noise dosimeter is a useful tool to combat noise-induced hearing damage in the workplace. The noise dosimeter offers a simple and effective solution for assessing noise exposure and preventing hearing loss in the workplace. It measures the amount of noise a person is exposed to during a working day. The device's microphone is attached close to the ear, measures the sound pressure level and calculates the so-called noise quantity. This level is output as the corresponding average noise level (sound exposure level) for an 8-hour time interval (reference period) and must be below the levels defined in the relevant occupational health and safety regulations (the 85 dB limit is common). The noise level can also be expressed as noise dose as a percentage of the maximum permissible level.
