Pressure sensors with ceramic measuring cell The devices with a ceramic measuring cell are designed for the highest demands with nominal pressures from -1 to 600 bar by means of an optimized support in the process sensor. These sensors are extremely robust against mechanical influences and operate completely wear and tear and fatigue-free. The resulting long-term stability ensures safe operation and reliable measurement results over 100 million pressure cycles. Pressure sensors with stainless steel measuring cell The devices with strain gauges in thick-film technology on a stainless steel measuring cell are characterized by a very compact and robust design. The seal-free welded stainless steel measuring cell ensures a high degree of safety. The three to thirty-fold burst pressure, depending on the selected measuring range of the device, and the equally high shock and vibration resistance underline the maximum operational reliability of ifm pressure sensors with stainless steel measuring cell. Pressure sensors with silicon measuring cell The devices with piezoresistive silicon measuring cell are in no way inferior to sensors with the ceramic measuring cell used up to now in terms of accuracy. Thanks to their design, they allow differential pressure measurements without a second connected pressure transducer. System solutions In addition to the large product range of pressure sensors ifm also offers special and reliable system solutions. Special devices, based on our proven pressure sensors, offer even greater application and usage possibilities. The PC-based communication and software solutions make the handling of ifm pressure sensors even more convenient. Level sensors In addition to the conventional pressure sensors for hydrostatic level measurement ifm now also offers level sensors for level measurement. This design opens up numerous new areas of application, for example level measurement in wells, flowing waters, boreholes and sewage plants. The high accuracy and long-term stability ensure long-term operation in these applications. All components of the level probe that come into contact with the medium are made of stainless steel (1.4571).

Pressure sensors (also known as pressure cans, pressure load cells or pressure transmitters) differ, apart from the design and the output signal, mainly in the type of reference pressure for pressure measurement: here there are pressure sensors for relative pressure, absolute pressure and differential pressure transducers.
In a pressure sensor for relative pressure, the back of the sensor element is exposed to the air pressure surrounding us. In a typical setup, a small tube leads from the back of the sensor to the plug or through the connection cable. These pressure sensors have the advantage that fluctuations in air pressure are not reflected in a fluctuation of the output signal.
The pressure sensor for absolute pressure has a small chamber on the back of the sensor membrane which is completely evacuated, i.e. the chamber is 0 bar absolute. These pressure sensors show the current air pressure, which is typically between 950 and 1050 mbar, as long as no measuring pressure is present. Changes in air pressure (e.g. due to a rising high or low) therefore lead to a change in the measuring signal without changing the actual pressure value. A special type of absolute pressure sensors are barometers, which measure the ambient air pressure very precisely. A special form of the pressure sensor is the so called sealed gauge version. Here, the reference chamber is sealed tightly at approx. 1000 mbar. These pressure sensors are mainly used for measuring ranges >10 bar. By closing the reference chamber, it is prevented that e.g. aggressive gases can penetrate into the reference chamber and cause corrosion there.
Another special form of pressure sensors are so-called differential pressure sensors or pressure transducers. Here the back of the sensor membrane is mechanically constructed in such a way that it can be used as an independent pressure connection for pressure measurement. A pressure sensor (pressure cell or pressure load cell) in this version therefore indicates zero at the same pressure on the input and reference sides. Differential pressure sensors differ substantially in their mechanical construction. Here there are simple designs which, for example, only allow dry gases for the reference side or also high-quality pressure transmitters which allow an overload (even on one side) of more than 200 bar at a small nominal measuring range of 35 mbar.

The pressure measuring module Qmix P offers two independent pressure sensors, which are designed for different pressure ranges (20, 50, 100 and 200bar) on request. The pressure sensors can be used both to monitor pressures in the system and to set up pressure control loops with the aid of the software - e.g. for the pressure-controlled dosing of media.
The pressure sensors can be flowed through in any direction. You are free to decide which of the connections should be inlet or outlet. The sensor can be cleaned simply by rinsing with a rinsing solution;
