The torque sensors from our company are divided into two groups: on the one hand, reaction torque sensors are based on strain gauge technology. The second group for measuring torque are torque measuring shafts for rotating applications. The torque sensors for rotating applications are based on two sensor technologies.
The classic torque sensors use strain gauges to convert the torque forces into an electrical signal. Slip rings are generally used to transmit the signal from the measuring shaft to the outside. By the right choice of robust slip rings the torque sensors can be used for rotating applications up to 4000 rpm.
As a new, modern alternative, we use a piezoelectric technology in which the vibrating structure in the torque sensor is detuned by torsion. This modern technology and the fast signal transmission from the measuring shaft allow the torque transducers to be used for rotating applications up to 10,000 revolutions per minute.
Digital signal processing makes it easy to design a sensor series that provides a digital interface in addition to the analog output signal. Not only can the measured values be read out via the digital interface, it is also possible to scale each torque sensor individually to the required measuring range.
For signal processing, our extensive range of strain gauge amplifiers for torque measurement is of course available. Systems with already amplified output signal can be directly connected to corresponding display systems or data loggers or PC-linked data acquisition systems.
