World time clocks display the time for several time zones on Earth simultaneously. The division of the globe into 24 time zones, which at first glance appears to be manageable, is partly made more difficult by different daylight saving time regulations, so that it is still important, especially for companies that operate internationally, to be able to determine at a glance whether the branch in the USA has already closed. The time zones are often referred to by the names of important cities such as Moscow or Beijing to illustrate their location on the globe.Today there are world time clocks in analog form with several dials or several clocks, but also with digital displays. However, not all 24 time zones are always listed. Many world time clocks are limited to a few places like London, Tokyo and San Francisco. Occasionally there are also displays in the form of world maps showing the respective times. In the age of the Internet, however, a few mouse clicks are often enough to answer the question of the time in Moscow, so that world time clocks often only play a decorative role. The best-known permanently installed and publicly visible world time clock in Germany has been located on Alexanderplatz in Berlin since 1969.
