This is mainly due to possible economies when shifting from steel strapping to PET strapping: a PET strap with the same breaking strength saves approximately 50% per meter of strap compared to steel strap. Furthermore, there is no risk of packaging good or packaging staff being injured by sharp steel strapping edges. And there is no risk of corrosion, of course.
If PET strapping is used in industry where you have very hard surfaces in combination with fully automatic strapping machines, our high tension type of PET strap should be used in order to avoid splicing of the PET strap.

When looking at strapping devices for either PP- or PET-Strapping, there needs to be distinguished between three basic designs: manual, pneumatic power tool and battery-powered tools. Some devices cannot be assigned to one of  the basic designs, as they combine two functions in one, like for example the OR-T 50 from Orgapack or the LS-ZP 20 from Zapak, which combine a hand-based tensioning with a battery-supported welding.

In the plastic strapping category, we have combined all extruded plastic strapping - i.e. PP and PET strapping; polyester textile strapping, or also called thread structure strapping, can be found in a separate category. You will also find strapping tools suitable for the respective PP strapping or PET strapping - from the simple manual strapping tool with seal to the automatic battery strapping tool, which is tensioned and welded at the push of a button. Trolleys for the various types of plastic strapping or core diameters are also found in this category, as are plastic corner protectors and edge protectors made of solid fibreboard. Basically, when choosing between PP strapping and PET strapping, it should be noted that PET strapping has a lower elongation and holds the applied strap tension better. If, on the other hand, packages whose volume changes - e.g. wood which dries out during storage - are involved, PP strapping is the better alternative due to its higher elongation. It should be noted, however, that with PP strapping - at least in the standard range - no more than approx. 340 kg tensile force per strapping can be achieved. With PET strapping, on the other hand, strengths of over 1000 kg per strapping can easily be achieved. In addition, there is the economic component: if, for example, a tearing force of a good 300 kg is to be achieved, either a 16x0.9 mm PP strap or a 12x0.7 mm PET strap can be used - both straps achieve approximately the same strength values; with the difference that the PET strapping is about 30% cheaper per meter than the PP strap.

LINSTRAP PP strapping has been developped especially for use with fully-automatic strapping machines and is thus certified as "fully-automatic quality grade". But you can use it with hand or battery-powered tools as well, of course.
