Printer cartridges are containers in which the ink required for printing is stored. These printer cartridges can be found in every brand independent inkjet printer. The main differences are in the storage and delivery of the respective ink.The ink can be stored, similar to cartridges for the fountain pen, as liquid in a container, or with the aid of foam fillings in the cartridge. The foam in the print cartridge ensures even dispensing and avoids sudden overdosing of the ink. This also prevents the outlet opening from drying out, as excess ink is sucked in again. In many cases, the ink is dispensed via an integrated print head on the print cartridge. However, more modern printers use cartridges without a print head. The ink is sucked out of the containers via a vacuum system. This method prevents the print head from drying out, which would mean printer failure. This also minimizes ink consumption.Printer cartridges are available in 4 colors. Colour printers require the colours yellow, blue and magenta in addition to the black cartridge. These cartridges are usually smaller in size, as the consumption of black ink is much higher.
