The dye for copying or printing in photocopiers or laser printers is called toner. The very fine powder behaves similar to a liquid, which in turn is due to the extremely small particles. These are made of synthetic resin, pigments, magnetizable metal oxides and auxiliary materials and not larger than 5 to 30 µm. Toner should not come into contact with moisture as it must remain constant in consistency until used. To prevent this, the toner is stored in a container called a cartridge or toner cartridge. Furthermore, it must meet the technical requirements of the device.
