In general terms, a loan refers to the material assets or financial resources available to an individual or a company from third parties in the short or long term. Basically, a distinction is made between two different types of loan use, the use of fungible goods (trade credit, supplier credit) and the use of money (banknotes and bank deposits).The typical application examples for a loan are for example the financial loan, bills of exchange, deferrals or the so-called installment purchases. As a rule, the borrower must return what he has obtained from the lender. This means that in the case of a trade credit, he must return goods of the same value as the credited goods and in the case of a financial credit, the nominal amount of the credited sum of money. In most cases, the granting of a loan is against payment; in addition to the repayment of the credited item by the borrower, so-called loan interest has to be paid.
