GLISS-COAT® stands for a range of dry lubricant coatings. These coatings are designed to reduce friction and wear and are well-suited for the coating of metals, light metals, plastic and many other materials.
GLISS-COAT® coating materials are water-soluble and can be applied in various ways. They are completely free of heavy metals. The flow behavior of the coatings is designed so that there is no troublesome edge build-up or drop formation along the edges and borings. The processes are fine-tuned on the basis of the shape and number of substrates, the properties of the liquid coating material, e.g. single or multi-component systems and the requirements expected from the coating once it is finished. Single parts are coated with automated surface spray units, while smaller mass-produced parts, for instance, are treated in special barrel-plating devices.
The drying process is carried out during the plating. At temperatures below 100°C the single parts need to be left scattered to ensure a uniform heat impact on each workpiece. This develops the required layer properties such as optimal hardness, corrosion resistance and lubrication.
GLISS-COAT® is an especially versatile coating. Within a short processing time a homogeneous anti-friction layer firmly anchored on the substrate forms on the workpiece surface. The dry-lubricant layer can achieve outstanding anti-friction behavior, lasting corrosion resistance and maintenance-free long-term lubrication for any workpiece shape and size. In addition, GLISS-COAT® repels dust and soiling as well as minimizes noise. Contrary to lubricating greases and oils, in GLISS-COAT® layers there is no removal of the medium.
Depending on the base material treated, the coating develops an opaque and mostly dark grey surface after the application of the coating. While the layer's coefficient of friction decreases with the pressure load, the loaded surface develops a bright appearance at the same time.
The wide variety of properties offered by GLISS-COAT® layers and the wide array of materials that can be coated make it possible to use workpieces with an anti-friction coating in the most diverse sectors. These products are used, for instance, as compression springs for damping systems or as bearings fitted to drive systems, turbines and rotors as well as in car interiors as hinge pins, bearing bolts, seat adjustment components, and guide plates.
