Show more Krautzberger GmbH dates back to the year 1902.
On October 9, 1902 Albert Krautzberger from Friedland near Wroclaw registered a patent for a "painting device driven by compressed air". By combining air discharge and paint discharge, this invention greatly facilitated the day-to-day use of painting equipment.
Nearly all compressed air spray guns used today are based on the system invented and patented by Albert Krautzberger. Industrial series production began in 1903, and - a few years later - the company moved to Holzhausen near Leipzig, where compressors as well as equipment and systems for use in the field of surface treatment were manufactured in the company’s own production facilities in the years up to the Second World War.
The products were sold through offices in Germany and abroad, and the company's international contacts meant that Krautzberger was a "global player" even then. When all the company assets were confiscated by the Soviet occupation powers and the production plant incorporated as "VEB Sprio" in an East German combine, the Krautzberger family was no longer able to continue operations at the Holzhausen site.
Part of the family moved to Eltville in the Rheingau district and began to rebuild the company's former activities.
Their knowledge, expertise and the commitment of the company's employees soon ensured that the name "Krautzberger" was quickly re-established in the market for surface technology.
The fall of the Berlin Wall permitted some form of reconciliation between the two companies in the two parts of Germany, and they signed a declaration of intent on future cooperation at the Hannover Fair back in 1990. During the course of re-privatisation, Krautzberger GmbH in Eltville acquired the former headquarters in Holzhausen near Leipzig, thus preventing the sale of the plant to outside buyers.
Krautzberger GmbH has been owned by the family since it was founded and, as an SME, has always been a welcome partner of trade and industry. The company's equipment and systems for surface treatment are sold in 60 countries throughout the world. And, in the years and decade to come, the "inventor of the modern spray gun" will continue to develop its products and introduce innovations and will remain a reliable partner for the surface technology needs of industry.
