Most turned wood parts are rotated about their own axis during turning by means of a lathe and brought into their concentric form by manual machining with a turning iron. Depending on the turning process used, different shapes and geometries can be realized. With reference to the desired result, the production process can also include further machining steps, such as grinding or rasping. Usually, however, the production of a special stencil, which is to serve as the production basis, is the first step. A particularly big challenge is the turning of round balls and shapes. Even today, many turned wood parts are still used by the end user or the processing industry. In professions such as carpentry, turned wooden parts are processed into complete furniture. Whether as toys or stair railings, the use of turned wooden parts is still widespread. According to the request or technical requirements of the industry, different types of wood can be used for turning. Nevertheless, as a rule, hardly any large runs are produced, usually only small series production.
