Description
It is mainly composed of an annular cylindrical blade and an arbor with a pilot drill bit. The pilot bit prevents the saw from wandering during operation. The blade has different cutting edges based on its type—bi-metal ones combine high-speed steel with a flexible backing; carbide-tipped types have hard carbide teeth; diamond-embedded ones are for hard materials like masonry. The cylinder wall is usually designed with sloping slots to discharge dust and debris, avoiding jamming.

Bi-metal hole saws usually have 4 - 6 teeth per inch. TCT hole saws can handle materials with a tensile strength of less than 1400N/mm². Common arbor thread specifications are M16 or M22, and some have 3-flat or hex shanks to enhance chuck grip.
