Description

Intelligent Alternatives to Metals and Plastics
New procedures and production technologies today require the use of highly wear-resistant components. They must be able to withstand mechanical and chemical attacks or operate reliably on a low-maintenance level in high-frequency ranges.
Thanks to their diverse properties, ceramics have become an increasingly popular alternative to metals and plastics.
We offer our customers products made to measure, for application in areas with those specific conditions. Our customers can rely on our expertise in construction, material selection and production techniques that stems from 120 years of experience in the industry. We offer a varied range of silicate and oxide ceramics with different material systems and their modifications. Our own mould and prototype construction facilities provide an important foundation for the optimal use of our casting technology.
Finishing processes like grinding, cementing, gluing, reinforcing or metallising provide a wide range of possibilities for shaping and completing of the ceramic components.
Also items manufactured in small batches, or even individually, are likely to make economic sense because of their high wear, temperature and deformation resistance.

Description
  • Ceramic materials exhibit very high mechanical strength which is required for the application as components for machines and equipments.
  • The hardness of advanced ceramic materials is above 9 on Moh´s Scale, and only diamond is harder (which rates 10 on Moh´s Scale). For this reason ceramic materials are excellent suitable for the production of parts with very high wear resistance e.g. for the paper-, textile- and wire industry.
  • The low density of the ceramic material is advantageous in the design of rotating movable parts such as bearings, valves, and rotors.
  • Ceramic materials are extremely heat resistant. The properties of metals can be significantly above 500 ° C after. Construction ceramics, however, can also be used above 1000 ° C. Ceramic components, for example in the metal industry in direct contact with molten metal (eg Abziehringen) is used.
  • In contrast to metals ceramic materials react only insignificant with acids and bases. Therefore they are ideal for the application in chemical industry.

Ceramics - Manufacturers, Traders & Suppliers

Ceramics
Many inorganic, non-metallic substances are referred to as ceramics. These are roughly divided into Sinter Zeug, Irden Gut and Sondermassen. The origin of the word ceramic is the ancient Greek word keramos (κέραμος). This was the name given to the clay mineral as well as to the objects made of it and fired from it, some of which can still be admired in museums today. The materials used to produce shaped and fired objects as well as the products themselves are referred to as ceramics. A distinction is made between clay ceramics, technical ceramics, porcelain, glass ceramics and composite ceramics. The objects formed and fired from ceramics are used as building blocks, roof tiles, ceramic tiles, sanitary ceramics, utility and decorative objects from the pottery or also as tools. First the stones, vessels etc. were produced as unique pieces, often especially creatively and artistically initiated. But already in the 19th century there were approaches for a ceramic mass production. At that time water jugs were already mass-produced.The potter is one of the oldest cultural techniques. This cultural technique originated in many regions of the world and was certainly developed independently of each other. Food was made more durable in ceramic containers, it was also cooked in them and eaten from them.
