Snow vehicles are commercial vehicles or locomotion vehicles which, due to their construction, can move in the snow without problems, usually without further aids. The movement takes place exclusively by chains or caterpillars. Normal vehicles, such as passenger vehicles, use snow chains to move on muddy ground. An example for the commercial vehicle is the snow groomer used in ski resorts. The snow groomer is a tracked vehicle with a shovel at the front and a tiller or roller at the rear. The shovel is used to spread snow evenly. Unevenness is thus corrected and holes filled with the excess snow. Due to the high weight of the vehicle, it presses the snow firmly together and guarantees a firm cover of snow that can be driven on by winter sports enthusiasts.Fortbewegungsmittel usually appear in the form of snowmobiles. The use is very different here. Mountain rescue uses snowmobiles to get quickly to accident sites in the area, forest workers to reach their place of work. They are rarely used for private purposes.
