RapidProtobrazing is a vacuum brazing process for the production of complex components or hollow bodies as single pieces or in small series. The desired component is cut into thin blanks in the existing 3-D model with the help of a CAD program and then cut out of the sheet metal, for example by laser or water jet cutting. These blanks are then alternately stacked with solder foil blanks and joined to form a solid body in a single vacuum soldering process. In contrast to three-dimensional sintering, this method allows different, even high-strength materials such as titanium to be integrated within a workpiece. Rapid-ProtoBrazing" can also be used to produce complex geometries such as profile strips, housings or support frames, which otherwise can only be produced by casting or extrusion.
