Who does not know the difficulties with the interfering edges in the working area of turn-mill centers! This primarily concerns the chucks on the main and counter spindles of the machine, especially when using driven tools. The Spannax® "DL Kombi" type compression chucks developed by Ortlieb are characterized by significantly reduced dimensions and weight. For example, the common chuck size 65/KK6 could be shortened from an overall length of 110 mm to 105 mm and the diameter could be reduced from 160 mm to 122 mm, which represents a reduction of 24%! A further advantage, in addition to the miniature design, is the fixed chuck head, which, contrary to conventional tension chucks, does not produce any axial offset of the workpieces during clamping. As a result, no axial tensile forces occur during workpiece transfer from the main spindle to the counter spindle - the spindle bearings are thus protected. The new DL combination chucks have the well-known advantages of the Spannax® system, such as µ-accurate concentricity and quick-change Rubber Flex® GT clamping heads, and they are also equipped with an internal stop that can be mounted from the front for precise workpiece positioning.
