LAT facing heads
Here the translatory draw bar movement of the cross feed device is redirected by
the mechanical slide drive elements into radial or angular actuating movements.
The application data – in particular the cutting speed – resulting from the machining task, provide appropriate dynamics at high spindle speeds. As the traction depends on the spindle speed and the stroke, the performance of the cross feed device must be suitably dimensioned. MAPAL provides the appropriate support and the necessary calculations.
EAT actuating heads
In conjunction with the relevant mechanical elements, the translatory draw bar movement of the cross feed device is redirected in the EAT actuating head by a cam control system into a rotary movement and produces the necessary swing motion by means of the excentrically supported rotary slide.
Compared to the LAT system, EAT actuating heads require significantly less activating forces and drive power in a stable, dynamically balanced situation and are, therefore, particularly suited for HSC machining.
