Single-tooth milling cutters
Developed for CNC processing of aluminium, light alloys, non-ferrous metals, thermoplastics and thermosetting plastics. The tools guarantee the highest cutting performance even on CNC engraving machines.
Our single-tooth milling cutters are suitable for HSC milling.

Differentiation according to the materials to be processed
Wood is milled without coolant, at high speed. Because wood is a bad conductor of heat, high temperatures build up on the surface of the tool. The feed rate and depth must thus be chosen such that the surface of the wood is not scorched.
Plastics are processed at medium speed and are cooled with water or alcohol, depending upon the type of material (hardness and plasticity). The cutting speed for metals embraces a wide spectrum, depending on the type of metal (brittle or ductile). Machine processing is done at 20-300 m/min. In series production or with workpieces requiring intensive milling, e.g. aircraft ribs, all parameters are optimally harmonised to one another and speeds of up to 10,000 m/min are possible, to increase efficiency. Coolants are used in most cases but there is however a clear tendency towards dry processing.
The proportion the cost of coolant to the overall cost of a milled workpiece is between 10 and 20 %.
The tools used also differ strongly in cutting material and shape. Contrary to wood and plastic milling cutters, metal milling cutters always have a positive chip angle and larger chipping spaces.
