The base material for sintered parts such as sliding bearings are bronze, iron, iron with copper and other metal powders. This powder is formed under high pressure in dies, then sintered at temperatures which is just below the melting point. According to the working conditions, the bearings can be impregnated with different oils or solid lubricants to be self-lubricating. Standard sizes in sintered bronze available ex stock, various special sizes available upon request.

A plain bearing is a bearing arrangement in which a component to be moved slides on a sliding surface. The purpose of plain bearings is to support or guide the parts that move relative to each other and to absorb and transmit the forces that occur in this process.
The sliding movement takes place between the bearing body and the respective mounted part. In radially moving bearings, the mobility of the sliding partners is ensured by the bearing clearance between the shaft and the bearing body. In axial bearings, the bearing clearance only occurs if the bearing has two axial surfaces assigned to a common shaft, the sum of the opposite sliding surface distances gives the bearing clearance.
Modern designs place ever greater demands on the sliding materials offered. The maintenance-free nature of the bearing arrangement is usually expected even under difficult operating conditions. In addition, constantly increasing cost pressure forces the permanent availability and use of the machines and plants used, whereby no restrictions on their reliability can be accepted.
Advantages
Due to the largely different properties of our plain bearings, even the most difficult requirements can usually be optimally met. Some are relatively insensitive to shocks, vibrations and jolts due to the material and damping properties of the wing. Plain bearings mainly run quietly, are robust and often insensitive to dirt. They therefore rarely require additional sealing. Bearing bushes are also split, which can be advantageous for special designs.
Disadvantages
For some types of plain bearings a higher starting torque cannot be avoided. Some always require sufficient maintenance and lubricant supply. The efficiency of plain bearings can generally be assumed to be somewhat lower than that of rolling bearings.
PREFERENTIAL USE
- For bearing arrangements with low speeds, for swivel or axial movements, for shock loads and dirt loads.
- For bearing arrangements with universal requirements, in agricultural machinery, construction machinery, vehicle construction, etc.
- For bearings that require high resistance to temperature and corrosion.
- For bearings that must achieve a long service life or long service life, e.g. for water and steam turbines, generators, centrifugal pumps, heavy ship shaft bearings.

Not only used in magnetically coupled pumps, our individual plain bearings always come into play when traditional ball bearings fail, whether due to chemical resistance, mechanical requirements or axial & radial deflections.Whether chemically resistant in silicon carbide (SSiC), mechanically resilient in hard metal (TC-6N) or self-lubricating in metal-impregnated graphite, we have the solution ready!
As diversified as our materials are their applications!
Starting with tungsten carbide blanks, finished ground and EDM'ed by our customers, we supply the complete range of pump-components like slide bearnigs & sealrings to pumpmanufacturers the mechanical-seal-industry and to service suppliers.
But also complete tools and precision-parts for different purpose & function.
Here some application fields and products:
- Automotive (cold forming tools)
- Electronic (progressive-die-tooling)
- Pumps (bearings, sealrings, shafts)
- Chemical (sealrings, plungers, valves)
- Oil & Gas (flow control valves)
- Solar (silicon carbide tools)
- Foodprocessing (sealrings, dryer-bearings)
- Rotor & Stator Toolings
- Tobacco (nozzles, guides)
Sintered plain bearings are made of sintered material, in whose pores oil is stored for the entire bearing life. An oil film builds up between bearing and shaft during operation. The temperature in the plain bearing increases with increasing operating time. As the thermal expansion of the oil is greater than that of the bearing metal, additional oil is forced into the bearing gap. At increased circumferential speed the lubrication becomes hydrodynamic. Sintered bronze plain bearings are largely corrosion-resistant, highly thermally conductive and anti-magnetic.
Almost every movement is facilitated by plain bearings. The most important requirements include
- low friction
- a high wear resistance
- low lubricant requirement
- Easy maintenance
- and a long service life
Plain bearings can be categorized in:
- Plain bearing with solid friction
- Plain bearings with mixed friction
- Plain bearing with liquid friction
Typical designs are:
- cylindrical bushings
- Collar bushings
- Thrust washers
- Slide bars
Typical applications of plain bearings are:
- Radial bearing for bearing forces perpendicular to the shaft centreline
- Axial bearing in the direction of the shaft centreline
- Floating bearing for free longitudinal displacement
- Fixed bearing for absorbing transverse and longitudinal forces
- Slide strips
- half shells
