Technical data
1. High Motion Precision & RepeatabilityPrecision is the core advantage of linear modules, ensuring accurate positioning and stable motion:Positioning Accuracy: Typically ranges from ±0.01 mm to ±0.1 mm (varies by type). High-precision models (e.g., those with ground ball screws or linear motors) can achieve positioning accuracy of ±0.005 mm or even higher, meeting demands for micro-assembly, semiconductor processing, and optical alignment.Repeatability: Refers to the consistency of returning to a fixed position, usually between ±0.001 mm and ±0.01 mm. This feature guarantees stable product quality in high-volume automated production (e.g., electronic component soldering, precision dispensing).Motion Smoothness: Equipped with high-precision linear guides (e.g., ball guides, roller guides) and optimized transmission structures, linear modules minimize friction and vibration during motion, avoiding jitter that could affect processing accuracy.2. Diverse Transmission Mechanisms for Flexible ApplicationLinear modules adopt different transmission methods to adapt to varying load, speed, and precision requirements. The three most common types are:Transmission TypeCore ComponentKey AdvantagesTypical ApplicationsBall Screw DriveHigh-precision ball screw + nutHigh efficiency (90%-95%), low backlash, strong load capacity, and stable low-speed motionPrecision machining tools, 3D printers, precision measuring equipmentBelt DriveTiming belt (synchronous belt) + pulleyHigh speed (up to 5 m/s), low noise, long stroke (easy to extend), and low costConveyor systems, packaging machinery, laser cutting (long-stroke scenarios)Linear Motor DriveDirect-drive linear motor (no intermediate transmission)Zero backlash, ultra-high speed (up to 10 m/s), ultra-high acceleration, and maintenance-freeSemiconductor wafer handling, high-speed sorting machines, precision laser processing 3. Excellent Load-Bearing Capacity & RigidityLinear modules are designed to withstand both axial (motion direction) and radial (perpendicular to motion direction) loads, ensuring stability under working conditions:Axial Load Capacity: Ranges from a few kilograms (miniature modules for small electronics) to several tons (heavy-duty modules for industrial machinery). For example, heavy-duty ball screw modules can bear axial loads of over 50 kN, suitable for lifting or pressing tasks.Structural Rigidity: The module base and sliding platform are usually made of high-strength aluminum alloy (anodized for corrosion resistance) or steel (for heavy loads). Reinforced structures (e.g., ribbed bases) reduce deformation under load, avoiding precision loss caused by structural bending.Anti-Vibration Performance: High rigidity also enhances resistance to external vibration, making the module stable in harsh industrial environments (e.g., near stamping machines or CNC equipment).4. High-Speed & High-Acceleration CapabilitiesTo improve production efficiency, modern linear modules prioritize speed and acceleration performance:Max Speed: Varies by transmission type—belt-driven modules can reach 3-5 m/s, linear motor modules up to 10 m/s, while ball screw modules (focused on precision) typically range from 0.5-2 m/s.Acceleration: Linear motor modules excel here, with acceleration up to 50 m/s² or more, enabling rapid start-stop and short cycle times (critical for high-speed sorting, pick-and-place robots).Speed Stability: Advanced control algorithms (matching servo drives) ensure constant speed during motion, avoiding speed fluctuations that affect processing quality (e.g., uniform coating, continuous laser engraving).5. Modular Design & Easy IntegrationLinear modules are designed for versatility and ease of use in automated systems:Standardized Sizes: Most manufacturers offer modules in standard lengths, widths, and load ratings (e.g., 100mm-3000mm strokes), allowing direct selection without custom design.Multi-Axis Combination: Multiple linear modules can be assembled into X, XY, XYZ, or gantry systems (e.g., XY modules for planar motion, XYZ modules for 3D positioning) to meet complex motion needs.Plug-and-Play Compatibility: Equipped with standard mounting interfaces (e.g., T-slots, threaded holes) and compatible with mainstream servo motors (e.g., Mitsubishi, Siemens) and controllers. This reduces integration time and simplifies system debugging.6. Low Maintenance & Long Service LifeIndustrial equipment requires minimal downtime, and linear modules are engineered for durability:Sealing & Protection: Most modules feature dust-proof and waterproof designs (e.g., rubber scrapers, bellows, or IP54/IP65 protection ratings), preventing dust, coolant, or debris from entering the transmission system and extending component life.Lubrication Optimization: Pre-filled with long-life lubricants (e.g., lithium-based grease) and equipped with oil injection ports for easy maintenance. Ball screw modules, for example, only need re-lubrication every 10,000-20,000 operating hours.Wear-Resistant Components: Linear guides and ball screws use high-hardness materials (e.g., SUJ2 bearing steel) with surface treatments (e.g., chrome plating, nitriding), ensuring a service life of 10,000+ operating hours under normal use.7. Wide Adaptability to Environmental ConditionsLinear modules can operate reliably in diverse industrial environments, expanding their application range:Temperature Resistance: Standard modules work in -10°C to 60°C; high-temperature models (with heat-resistant lubricants and materials) can withstand up to 150°C (for automotive engine testing or high-temperature processing).Corrosion Resistance: Modules with stainless steel components (e.g., screws, guides) and anti-corrosion coatings (e.g., passivation, PTFE coating) are suitable for humid, acidic, or alkaline environments (e.g., food processing, chemical packaging).Low-Noise Operation: Belt-driven modules use tooth-profile optimized timing belts, and ball screw modules adopt low-noise nuts—typical noise levels are below 65 dB, meeting requirements for quiet workshops (e.g., electronic product assembly lines).8. Intelligent Motion Control SupportWith the development of Industry 4.0, linear modules integrate with intelligent control technologies:Real-Time Monitoring: Some high-end modules are equipped with sensors (e.g., position encoders, temperature sensors, load cells) to monitor motion status, temperature, and load in real time. Data is transmitted to the controller for predictive maintenance (avoiding unexpected failures).Compatibility with Automation Protocols: Supports mainstream industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, PROFINET, Modbus), enabling seamless connection to PLCs, industrial PCs, or MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) for centralized control and data management.Error Compensation: Advanced controllers can automatically compensate for errors caused by temperature drift (e.g., thermal expansion of screws) or mechanical backlash, further improving long-term motion accuracy.

Linear Axles
Linear axes are complex machine components for moving and positioning loads in the translational direction. They are also called linear modules, linear units or linear drives. The main elements of a linear axis are a support profile or a base plate, a linear guide and the drive element, usually a ball screw drive or a toothed belt. Further components can be bearings, limit switches, couplings, drive adapters and covers. An essential distinction is also made between compact axes and linear tables.Linear axes are used in many ways as single axes or for the construction of multi-axis systems for handling and positioning tasks. Depending on the application, the linear axes can be equipped with roller guides or with rail guides, with toothed belts or with spindle drive. The size of the linear axis is mainly determined by the mass to be moved (weight and volume). This mass should be easy to mount on the carriage and should have as few overhangs as possible. Therefore, a corresponding reference variable and slide screw-on surface is required, which also determines the size. A further criterion for selecting a linear axis is the dynamics with which the mass is to be moved. The resulting forces (e.g. drive forces, torques, centrifugal forces) must be absorbed by the toothed belt or the spindle and the guide. The combination of forces and moments has a great influence on service life.Linear axes are used in many areas of mechanical engineering. The use of these complex machine components saves valuable design time and reduces procurement and assembly costs.
