Windparks
For some time now it has been decided that Germany will withdraw from nuclear power. To make this possible, however, new ways of generating energy must be explored. If possible, these should include regenerative energy sources. In the long term, Germany is to become independent of fossil fuels in power generation. The wind is an ideal alternative here.In wind turbines, the kinetic energy of the wind is used to drive rotors. These rotors in turn drive a generator. The generator feeds its energy into the public distribution network of energy supply companies (EVU) via power electronics. This energy is ecologically very valuable. Particularly windy areas can be found on the coast and at sea. On the sea, there is also the advantage that no residents are affected and any landscape-changing measures are of no consequence.Naturally, the rough environment of the sea places special demands on the technology. For example, the foundations of the plants have to be anchored to the ground with particular effort. Furthermore, the salty sea air is very aggressive. All parts must be provided with special protective paints and varnishes. Since electricity has to be transported to the mainland, many wind turbines are usually combined into a so-called wind farm. This minimizes the costs of grid connection and the wind farm runs more economically than individual turbines.
