  • cyclo-phin - hydro cyclonic separators
Description

cyclo-phin filters are hydro cyclonic separators made of stainlesssteel.
Their unique design generates a whirlpool effect that enablesthe separation of particles with a higher specific weight than waterfrom the incoming raw water. These filters are highly effective, with aremoval efficiency of up to 99% for solids measuring 75μm or larger, and 65% for 50μm particles.
cyclo-phin filters operate continuously and do not rely on any movingparts, which makes them long-lasting and highly convenient as theyneed little to no maintenance.
These filters come with inspectable covers, with the bottom coverbeing of particular importance as it includes a waste storage tank thatcan be drained using a manual valve (supplied) or an automatic drain valve if required.

Areas of application

the following are some common application areas for hydrocyclone separators in the context of water filtration and treatment:

  • Mining and Mineral Processing: Hydrocyclones are used to separate valuable minerals from gangue, or unwanted material. They can also be used to classify solids based on size.
  • Desanding and Desilting: In drilling operations, hydrocyclones are used to remove sand and silt particles from drilling fluids. This prevents abrasion of the drilling equipment and ensures smoother operations.
  • Wastewater Treatment: Hydrocyclones can be used to remove solids and particulates from wastewater before it's discharged or further treated. This reduces the load on subsequent treatment processes.
  • Food and Beverage Industry: Hydrocyclones can be used in the processing of foods and beverages to separate solids from liquids, such as in the case of starch and protein separation in the potato industry.
  • Chemical Processing: They can be used to separate solid catalyst particles from liquid reactants, ensuring the purity of the product and facilitating catalyst recovery.
  • Pulp and Paper Industry: Hydrocyclones are used in pulp mills to remove sand, bark, and other contaminants from the pulp. This results in cleaner paper products and extends the life of the processing equipment.
  • Irrigation: In agricultural settings, hydrocyclones can be employed to remove sand and silt from irrigation water, ensuring that only clean water reaches the crops and preventing blockage of irrigation systems.
  • Cooling Tower Systems: These separators can be used to filter out contaminants from the water used in cooling towers, thus improving the efficiency and longevity of the system.
  • Aquaculture: In fish farming, hydrocyclones can help in removing particulate waste, ensuring cleaner water for the aquatic organisms.
  • Dairy Industry: Hydrocyclones can separate milk into skim milk and cream, based on the difference in their densities.
